For mature dogs and dogs with disorders of the femoral head, various treatment approaches are available for correction of the pain and discomfort associated with hip joint dysfunction.

 Medical, rehabilitation, nutritional 

and holistic approaches can be attempted . 

 When these measures have failed, surgery is considered. 

 If a total hip replacement is not an option, 

femoral head ostectomy can be performed and 

a healthy and happy dog can be obtained post-surgically.
